course is for family carers who are supporting someone whose
disabilities limit their capacity to communicate
Topics covered:
* Understanding communication and communication breakdown
* How to develop systems to enable successful communication,
including visual communication
* Ideas for intervention, interaction and learning within the home
and education environments
Facilitator: Judanne Young is a speech-language pathologist who has
been working in private practice in Canberra for 19 years, working with
both adults and children. She now specialises in autism and disability
and also works with people with learning difficulties as well as
providing consultancy to numerous early intervention services in the ACT
region.
Note: Sandwiches, tea and coffee will be provided.
