In Brief

Good afternoon,

Coming up this weekend at Belconnen Arts Centre is our annual Twilight Christmas Celebrations. This indoor market is a wonderful opportunity to support local artists and crafts people. Foodies will also delight in local wines and foods from this region. The market is on Saturday from 3:00 – 7:00pm. On Sunday is the opening event for I AM…, a fantastic exhibition featuring visual artists exploring the theme of identity. The opening event will coincide with the launch of I-DAY, an inclusive festival of events for people with disability. This huge event will feature a Meet the Artist's session, nibbles, a film screening and a big opening celebration! The event kicks off at 2:00pm on Sunday 2 December.

We hope you have a wonderful week and we look forward to welcoming you to BAC soon.

This annual visual exhibition gives artists experiencing disability and disadvantage an opportunity to challenge the way people think about and see disability, and coincides with the 2012 International Day of People with Disability. Awareness describes a state of consciousness in which one is alert, awake and consciously aware of one's thoughts, feelings, words and actions. This year's theme allows artists to take charge of their awareness and self-esteem by declaring I AM… This ownership allows the artists to celebrate who they are and what makes them unique and valued members in their family and our community.
