Carers ACT is the leading organisation that is dedicated to improving the
quality of life for carers in the ACT. We have represented the interests of
over 43,000 carers and their families since 1992. We are the only family
carer centered service provider in the ACT that provides information, advice
and services. Every aspect of our work is underpinned by how we can improve
carers' lives by ensuring they have information to give them choice and
opportunities to empower them to have their voices heard by policy and
opinion makers.
We are currently seeking two program coordinators with demonstrated
experience working with clients for our Respite Service and Employed Carers
Support Program. These are vital roles that provide essential services to
nonpaid family carers in the ACT.
Respite Coordinator
As the Respite Coordinator you will undertaking intake and assessment of
individual carer needs for respite care, implement appropriate short term
and emergency respite services, liaise and negotiate with service providers
to coordinate cost effective respite care services to meet carer needs and
maintain accurate client and service provider records on the database.
Employed Carers Coordinator
As the Employed Carers Coordinator you will be assisting nonpaid family
carers to stay in or resume paid employment. You will provide a range of
flexible respite options which are individually tailored to meet the needs
of employed carers through brokerage and case coordination.
Essential Qualities
As a Program Coordinator at Carers ACT you will be empathetic with a
flexible approach to managing the sensitivities of carers Issues. You will
have excellent interpersonal skills with a high level of attention to
detail. You will have relevant qualifications in health, aged care or
disability fields together with high level verbal and written communication
with demonstrated knowledge of the community sector. High level IT skills
including the use of Microsoft Office are essential along with a current
driver's license.
