ADHD Research Study Recruitment Phase 2

ADHD RESEARCH PROJECT

Do you have a son or daughter with Attention-Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder?

We are looking for children between the ages of 7 and 14 years who have
received a formal diagnosis of ADHD to participate in an ANU study on
attention in ADHD.

Our study is interested in how the presence of concurrent noise affects
basic attentional processes in children with ADHD. Recent research has
suggested that under certain circumstances background noise may improve task
performance in children with ADHD, but further research is needed to
identify which cognitive processes may benefit.

What does participation involve?

Parents are asked to complete three questionnaires regarding their child's
learning and behaviour at home, and their treatment history. Each child will
take part in 2 testing sessions, each lasting approximately 1 hour.
These testing sessions will be scheduled 2-4 weeks apart. In these sessions
your child will be asked to complete a series of computer-based attention
tasks. In one of the testing sessions, your child will complete these tasks
while listening to an auditory stimulus via headphones.

If you and your child are interested in participating in this study please
contact Rosemary Allen on (02) 6125 4100 or via email:

This research has been approved by the ANU Human Ethics Committee (Protocol
No. 2012/535)
