Kitchen Basics with Torben

Description: The 5 lessons will aim to give you confidence in the kitchen by demonstrating a few basics like, making potato gnocchi to de-boning a whole chicken, Or making a delicious mushroom risotto. There are no particular requirements for this course. However once the course is under way I will ask if there is any dish or ingredient they would like to focus on for the last lesson.
Lesson 1. Risotto. (Mushroom)
Lesson 2 Potato gnocchi with sauce
Lesson 3 Homemade pasta with sauce
Lesson 4 De-boning a whole chicken, and cooking the various cuts.
Lesson 5 open to suggestions from class.
Torben Bilney's love of food and cooking comes from a young age, and has developed into a passion. Torben has honed his skills while working in a number of top restaurants, in Sydney and in London and more recently, he owned his own cafe in Canberra. Whilst he has the knowledge and expertise of a trained chef, his personal style is relaxed, in keeping with his belief that cooking should be an enjoyable experience. Torben describes his food as ‘high-endcomfort food’; food that will make people feel at home and leave appetites satisfied, but also has the ‘finishing touches’ and presentation that will impress any gathering.
