NDIS Information Workshop

Sport and Recreation Services will be conducting two interactive
workshops on the topic of the 'National Disability Insurance Scheme and
Sport', on Tuesday 2nd July at Ainslie Football Club.

The presentation will be delivered by 2 members of the NDIS Taskforce,
both experts on the implementation of the NDIS in the ACT and the
relevance of the Enhanced Service Offer (ESO) to people with a
disability wishing to participate in sporting and recreational
activities.

The Enhanced Service Offers are grants for people with a disability that
allow them to increase their independence and reduce their need for
support in areas that enhance their quality of life.

The sporting industry fits very well into the 3 categories of funding;
A. Aids, equipment and minor modifications to your home or vehicle which
will increase your independence or reduce your need for support from
paid or unpaid carers. You can apply for grants up to $10 000.
B. One off items and supports which may generally increase your Quality
of Life. You can apply for grants up to $5000.
C. Flexible supports and services to meet your needs and provide a break
for your family or carer. You can apply for grants up to $12,000 for
supports and services to be provided up until December 2014.

These supports and services may enable you to:
i. take part in a social, recreational, educational or vocational
activity;
ii. learn new skills;
iii. increase your independence; and/or
iv. build your social and personal networks.

This workshop is relevant to you and your organisation if you already
conduct programs/provide opportunities for people with a disability, and
would like to look into further support or if you have been wanting to
develop and provide greater inclusive opportunities but have felt unable
to due to lack of resources, equipment or support to get a program off
the ground. Noting that an individual with a disability will apply for a
grant and be solely responsible for the fund's expenditure.
