Carers ACT is the leading organisation that is dedicated to improving the
quality of life for Carers in the ACT. We have represented the interests of
over 43,000 Carers and their families since 1992. We are the only family
Carer centered, service provider in the ACT that provides information,
advice and services. Carers ACT have recently expanded their services to
include the Southern Highlands Region.
Carers ACT is growing and we are currently seeking enthusiastic people to
join our dedicated team who wish to use their skills and expertise to help
others in the community. Every aspect of our work is underpinned by how we
can improve Carers' lives by ensuring they have information to give them
choice and provide opportunities to empower them to have their voices heard
by policy and opinion makers.
Team Leaders (Full-Time)
These are pivotal roles responsible for providing quality leadership and
supervision to our dedicated teams of coordinators, ensuring the highest
possible standard of service is provided to Carers. You will also be
responsible for contract fulfillment, stakeholder management, budget
monitoring and contract reporting. As the new Team Leader at Carers ACT, you
will have demonstrated experience in providing team leadership along with
suitable experience in the community sector and relevant qualifications.
Part Time Coordinator - Carer Support (Mental Health) (22.5 Hours) This is a
central role that provides support to Carers contacting Carers ACT at our
Gunghalin Office. You will be responsible for conducting intake and
assessment of individual carer needs, liaise with and negotiate with service
providers to provide cost effective respite services for Carers. As the new
coordinator you will have demonstrated experience in program coordination
with qualifications and/or experience with mental health and an
understanding of mental health issues of concern for Carers and Care
Recipients.
Part Time Coordinator - Branch Out Café Social Enterprise (20 Hours) Branch
Out Café is a social enterprise that provides job ready training for people
with a disability who have a passion for gaining employment in the
hospitality industry. In this role, you will liaise with Carers (parents),
Employers, Agencies, Schools and the Corporate sector in promoting the Café
Product, identifying potential students and employers for students who have
obtained their competencies. As the new Coordinator, you will have
qualifications in disability and established networks in this sector.
Coordinator - Carer Advisory (Full-Time) This is a central role serving as
first point of contact for Carers in the ACT. It is responsible for
providing high quality professional support to Carers contacting the Carer
Advisory line. In this role, you will have a demonstrated understanding of
the issues and concerns of Carers and Care Recipients, and a strong
knowledge of the ACT community and health sectors, and the ability to
provide information to clients regarding available services and supports.
Essential Qualities
As an employee at Carers ACT you will be empathetic with a flexible approach
to managing the sensitivities of Carers Issues. You will have excellent
interpersonal skills with a high level of attention to detail. You will
have relevant qualifications in health, aged care or disability fields
together with high level verbal and written communication with demonstrated
knowledge of the community sector. High level of IT skills including the
use of Microsoft Office is essential along with a current driver's license.
