        Caroline Stevenson B.Sc (Hons), M.Psych, PhD.(MAPS)

Caroline Stevenson is a Clinical Psychologist who trained at the University of Sydney.She
is a registered psychologist and member of the Clinical College of the Australian
Psychological Society. In 1999 she completed a PhD on the management of AD/HD in adults.

Since 2000, Caroline has worked in private practice helping individuals and families with the challenges associated with having AD/HD and learning difficulties. She has spoken at national
and international conferences on the topic of AD/HD management, and her work is cited in     international guidelines on the rights of adult AD/HD.

ASSESSMENT & MANAGEMENT OF ADULT AD/HD
ADHD is one of the most researched conditions and yet one of
the most misunderstood.

OUTCOME OF PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT DAY:
·           To understand theoretical models of AD/HD and apply the concepts to clinical practice
·           To update knowledge of assessment methods and tools for assessing adults with AD/HD
·           To update knowledge of psychological strategies that will enhance the functioning of adults with AD/HD

From 08.30am:          Registration
09.00-11.00am           Module 1: Understanding adult AD/HD: Theoretical Models
                                    This section will describe major theoretical models of AD/HD and provide      a platform for understanding how to assess for AD/HD in late adolescence and adulthood.

11.00-11.15am           Morning Tea
11.15-01.15pm           Module 2: Assessment of adult AD/HD Guidelines, Methods & Tools
                                    This section will discuss international guidelines for the assessment of AD/HD. The pros and cons of different rating scales and cognitive tests will be explored. And finally, differential diagnosis of AD/HD with other conditions will be considered.

01.15-2.00pm:            Lunch

02.00-4.00pm:            Module 3: Treatment of adult AD/HD: Strategies to managing the symptoms.
                                    This section will reference international best practice guidelines. Cognitive remediation for organisational, motivation, and attention and memory will be discussed. Emerging technology such as computerised intervention for Working Memory will be considered.
