ACT Grandparents Day Community Festival
The ACT's second Grandparent's Day Community Festival will be held in
the parklands behind the Tuggeranong Seniors Centre on Sunday 27
October, from 11.00am until 5.00pm.
The Festival is an initiative of the Tuggeranong 55+ Club, Woden,
Canberra and Belconnen Seniors Club, with technical assistance provided
by the ACT Government.
Park your vehicles in the large car park, just across from the
Tuggeranong Bus Interchange and the Hyperdome and enter through the
gates at 101 Cowlishaw Street.
Enjoy great music performances by the Tuggeranong Ukulele Gang, the
vibrant sounds of Annie and the Armadillos, featuring the Las Vegas
Show, with Annie Sloan as Peggy Lee and Tony Haley as Frank Sinatra,
plus the great sounds of the 60's and 70's with Tuggeranong's legendary
baby boomer rock band, The Old 45's.
There will be a range of fun activities and giveaways for young kiddies
including 'paint and play', face painting and free helium balloons.
Large shaded areas and plenty of chairs and tables will be provided for
your convenience and comfort.
Jake and Cecilia from Warehouse Circus will be along to teach everyone
some great circus skills, including juggling, diabolo, trick sticks,
staff and poi spinning, hula-hoop and much more. Join in the fun and win
tickets to their forthcoming Festival in November. Warehouse Circus will
run circus skills workshops at 2:15pm and again at 3.00pm - join them
for some serious circus fun and be surprised by what you can learn.
There will be an assortment of food stalls including Asian food,
fabulous gourmet pies from Sebastian the Pieman of Gumtree Pies, from
Yackandandah in Victoria, a sausage sizzle, Turkish Gozleme, ice creams,
drinks and bottled water. A craft stall will also be provided by Woden
Seniors offering craft items and hand-made Christmas decorations.
