Smartphone App for disability

Hi everyone

We thought you might be interested to know that Nican's new Smartphone
App linking people with disabilities to sports, recreation, arts and
support opportunities can now be downloaded directly from a link on the
Nican website in iTunes:
https://itunes.apple.com/au/app/nican/id664462511?mt=8

The Smartphone App is the first Australian geospatial smartphone App to
link people with disabilities to a comprehensive database of thousands
of access friendly sport, arts and recreation opportunities.

Design features include a map as a key design feature with simple
searching or filtering using keyword and categories. It gives users the
ability to favourite their choices and also provides a single 'call" and
"take me there" button, so people can call the place or go there at the
touch of a button. It uses good colour contrasts and screen icons to
provide better access to people with low vision.

The App was a result of many months intensive work and development and
was funded by the ACT Government and developed in partnership with users
and people with disabilities. Since going live in June the App has been
downloaded by people in Australia, New Zealand, the United States, China
and France.

The App is compatible with iPhone 4 or later models and is located in
the AppStore under the Lifestyle category. To download search for
"Nican" or
Apps beginning with "N" under Lifestyle or use the above link. You can
also find the link on www.nican.com.au

We hope that you find this useful & have a chance to try out the App and
please do let us know your feedback.
