Living a Healthy Life with Long-Term Conditions courses inFebruary

LIVING A HEALTHY LIFE WITH LONG-TERM CONDITIONS

Do you have a chronic health condition? A chronic condition is defined
as any medical condition lasting six months or longer, for example,
asthma, arthritis, cancer, obesity, diabetes, chronic pain and heart
disease.

This evidence based course is being conducted by ACT Health in
partnership with SHOUT Inc. Carers and friends of people with chronic
conditions are encouraged to attend the course.

The course includes topics such as symptom management including pain,
fatigue & depression, dealing with difficult emotions, communicating
with health providers, physical activity, healthy eating, action
planning, problem- solving and decision making.

The course runs for two and half hours a week for 6 weeks and will be
offered at a Belconnen Community Health Centre commencing Tuesday
February 18th, 10am-12.30pm and the Phillip Health Centre on Thursdays,
commencing February 20th.The course leaders include a health
professional and a person with a long-term condition who has completed
leader training.
