Vacancies at Hands On Studio

Monday afternoon 1 until 4 $24/session Vacancy: 1

These art classes concentrate mainly on painting and drawing. Students
are encouraged to develop and extend their range of pictorial
motifs/subjects. Periodically, students are encouraged to produce work
on a set theme, usually with a view to producing work for a specific
exhibition.

Students are given the opportunity and encouraged to improve their
knowledge and application of specific painting and drawing techniques
and materials. Techniques considered include: perspective, composition,
tonal balance, colour harmony, glazes and impasto etc.

Materials for use include - for drawing: graphite pencils, coloured
pencils, marker pens and water soluble pencils; and for painting:
acrylic paints, watercolour paints and occasionally (under supervision)
oil paints.
All art works produced by students are assessed for inclusion in the
frequent exhibitions held by the studio. Students are involved to their
capacity in selecting art works and considering presentation of works,
pricing and titling work with a view to enabling students to produce and
exhibit their artwork independently.
Advanced class

Wednesday Morning 9.30 until 12 $22/class Vacancy: 3

In this class we explore the wonderful world of sculpture. Here we
investigate three-dimensional making using different materials such as:

* clay

* dough

* paper-mache

* plaster

This is a very tactile class where students are encouraged to experiment
with new ideas in a creative environment and experience working on both
individual and collective projects.

Suitable for artists with disability who are also vision impaired.

Thursday morning 9.30 until 12 $22/class Vacancy 1 This class
specializes mixed media art class, with an emphasis on self- expression
and experimentation. To facilitate creativity and learning we use a wide
range of mediums:

* painting

* drawing

* printmaking,

* collage

* textiles and

* paper mache
Due to the broad scope of mixed media each student has the opportunity
to pursue their own interests and build on their strengths. Besides
working on individual art projects, making collaborative artworks is an
integral part of our program. Students are encouraged to cooperate and
work as a team on large ongoing art projects. Thursday Morning class is
a warm and welcoming environment, where students can extend their art
practice while socialising and developing skills with like-minded
individuals.
