Transitions to individualised social care schemes like the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) are not only a big challenge for social care providers, but also a catalyst for innovation. With the need to become more effective and efficient in delivering person centred services, providers are looking for service delivery models that will help them achieve this while also staying true to their values and act as good employers to their staff. Evidence from countries that have introduced individualised schemes in the 2000s shows that many fail, but some succeed in creating these models.
