The job market here in Canberra, has changed significantly in recent times.
The AIDS Action Council in conjunction with Nelé Change Management, would
like to invite you to attend a resume workshop.
The workshops will be facilitated by Helen McCallum, Principal Consultant
from Nelé Change Management. In addition to many years' experience within
the recruitment industry , Helen has successfully provided redeployment
training and support to APS employees, here in Canberra and nationally, over
the past 4 years.
The workshops will focus primarily on the APS job market, but will also
provide participants with valuable tools to target work in other sectors
within the Canberra Region.
Dates: Thursday 12 December 2013. 5.30pm to 8pm OR
Saturday 14 December 2013. 10am to 12.30pm

The resume workshop will cover:
· How to write an effective professional summary that targets your
branding to the type of employment you seek - getting in touch with your
professional self
How to present your skills in a more effective way by focusing on
outcomes rather than process - Thinking about how what you do contributes to
organisational goals
· How to appropriately choose and prepare your referees to support
your application - promoting open and frank discussion about your strengths
and weaknesses and encouraging open discussion to identify solutions to
address potential weaknesses.
· Resume structure and language
· Differences between formal education and professional development
and how they work in your resume to demonstrate capability
· What to include and what not to include
· How to honestly and effectively address gaps in employment and
other seemingly potential barriers.
The workshops focus predominately on the resume, but will also touch on:
* How to approach/structure a written expression of interest or
response to selection criteria
* preparing for interview
* The current labour market and how to tap into employment
opportunities.
