SoSAFE training Traffic Lights training

There are some fantastic upcoming training opportunities happening here at SHFPACT.

It is generally agreed that children and young people who have good information about their bodies and their sexuality are less likely to experience abuse. So if you have an interest in child protection and safety, or if your work involves teaching or working with children or young people including people with disabilities about healthy and safe relationships, then the following professional development opportunities may be for you or for someone you know. If you are interested in attending, please do get in touch with the education team (Mel Greenhalgh, mgreenhalgh@shfpact.org.au) and register your individual or team’s interest with us. If you know of a colleague or carer who may like to attend, please forward on these details.

SoSAFE! is visual, rules based program that provides a series of tools to teach about what is ok talking and touching in different relationships, how to move in and out of intimate relationships. The program also has an abuse disclosure tool. SoSAFE! is designed as a sexuality and social safety program for people with intellectual disability and autism spectrum disorders, and is an effective tool to use with all children, especially in early childhood and for children at risk.

Traffic Lights training supports the use of the FPQ resource framework "Sexual Behaviours in Children and Young people: a guide to identify, understand and respond to sexual behaviours". Participants will identify what is typical, healthy sexual development in children and young people. The training will also provide guidance on behaviours of concern and how to respond.

Apologies for any cross postings J
