Last week to register for IDPwD

Hi everyone

I wanted to let you know that this is the last week you can register to
celebrate this year's UN International Day of People with Disability
through events on or around 3 December 2011. Registered celebrations
receive a complimentary promotional pack with ideas for celebrating the
Day, breaking down the barriers posters, balloons and a lapel pin. ACT
registered supporters may also receive some additional complimentary
products made available with support from sponsorships and the ACT
Government while stocks last. Celebrations can be large and small and
range from a poster display in the workplace, community fetes as well as
events such as staff training,
workshops, themed school assemblies or lunches. Registering is simple
and
can happen in two ways:

1. Hop onto - http://www.idpwd.com.au/events/registration/ and fill in
the
form which takes about 3 minutes. If you don't want to be listed on the
website, such as for a school or an internal morning tea, just click
private event; or

2. Ring us up and we'll do it for you! Our phone number is tollfree
1800
440 385

There is also a set of online wallpapers
<http://www.idpwd.com.au/events/toolkit/> which you can download to
desktop and PC which highlight the need to break down barriers in
community, attitudes and employment. But you need to register by this
Friday 25 November 2011.

Disability is personal and International Day is also about sharing our
stories so we're also inviting you to celebrate online this year by
viewing and sharing stories from people with disabilities around
Australia through two projects:

* Nican have partnered with ABC Open through a project called The
Moment Behind The Photo. People with disabilities from regional areas
around Australia have worked with ABC Open producers on almost fifty
projects which tell their stories through a single photo with video,
audio and/or text.

* Breaking Down the Barriers is dedicated to sharing the stories
of
people who have overcome obstacles, changed attitudes and made a
difference in their communities. There are many stories this year so
check out:

Last if you are looking for events in your local community please hop
onto www.idpwd.com.au and check out the map or database to search for
events near you.

Happy International Day!
