SOSAFE! – EXPRESS YOUR INTEREST
SoSafe is a course designed to promote social safety for people living with an intellectual disability (moderate to severe range) or autism spectrum disorder, using a standardised framework of symbols, visual teaching tools and concepts to teach the type and degree of verbal and physical intimacy appropriate with different categories of people, and strategies for moving into intimate relationships in a safe and measured way. SHFPACT (Sexual Health and Family Planning ACT) facilitates SoSafe training for clients with a disability.
The course involves two three-hour sessions and is free but requires a mandatory purchase of the SoSAFE manual for $135 from SHFPACT, to be paid by each participant.
Skills for Carers coordinates SoSafe courses upon request for family carers of people with a disability, which are then facilitated by SHFPACT. If you are interested in taking part in such a course, please contact us to register your interest by phoning 6207 3628 or emailing CarerSkills@cit.edu.au.
