Belinda Barnard of ACT Human Rights Commission
This seminar will provide information to managers and board members of
community sector organisations on their human rights obligations as
public authorities under the ACT Human Rights Act 2004.
Information will be provided on how to ensure human rights are adhered
to . through understanding what it means to be a public authority; . as
a component of risk management; . through organisational policies and
procedures; and . through the day-to-day provision of supports to
disadvantaged and/or vulnerable people in Canberra.
Belinda Barnard is an adviser to the ACT Human Rights and Discrimination
Commissioner. She has worked in different capacities as a human rights
lawyer since 2002, and also has experience serving on a number of
community boards.
