Open Day at the Disability Information and Support Hub (DISH)

The Disability Information and Support Hub (DIISH) is a co-location of
services that support people with a disability and their families. It is a
unique partnership between Belconnen Community Services, House with No
Steps, Woden Community Services and Disability ACT.

DISH staff are involved in the following initiatives:
Housing Options Facilitation; Transition for School Leavers; Work Experience
and Social Placement (WESP) for students in Years 9 & 10; Local Area
Coordination; PATH (Planning Alternative Tomorrows with Hope); Disability
Information Service and Community Development. The DISH was launched in
February 2012, and we're having our first open day on Thursday 5th July. The
theme for the open day is:

MONEY! MONEY! MONEY!

There will be a presentation from CARE Financial Counselling at 12 noon, and
you can talk with Centrelink staff between 10am & 5pm. Other agency staff
will be at DISH to discuss tax, energy efficiency, housing options and a
range of other topics relating to money and financial security for people
with a disability, such as:

* How to budget for renting?

* How to balance income with the disability support pension?

* What are supported-wages?

Tea and coffee is provided, and there's a free sausage sizzle at lunch time.

All welcome at DISH - 62 Oatley Court, Belconnen (next to ACT basketball),
on Thursday 5th July 2012, between 10am & 7pm
