Hi everyone
I've been approached by colleagues at the NSW Attorney Generals Dept
wanting two speakers with a disability from the Canberra region to be
involved with a staff training workshop that is being held in at
Queanbeyan Local Court on Wednesday 1 August 10.30am -12.00. The
person can if they want:
. bring a support person with them
. or they can assist them with prepared questions to answer
. and they are happy if needed to spend time talking to them prior
to the day and going through the questions and what they would like to
say.
The speakers will be invited to talk about themselves, common myths,
what it's like to be a consumer of government services and provide
practical advice or ideas do you have that would assist court staff or
people who provide a client service to make it accessible for you.
I understand that they are keen to involve a person with an intellectual
disability and a person with an acquired brain injury.
I am passing this on as it sounds like a meaningful opportunity and I
note that they will pay for the speakers to be involved, cover transport
and provide assistance to facilitate involvement including an interview
style
session with focussing questions.
If you know of people who might be interested please note the contact is
Anne on 02 86887507 Anne_Mangan@agd.nsw.gov.au
