Positive Outcomes Program (POP) - free individual information sessions
The Community Education Program at COTA ACT offers free information sessions
to groups of seniors encouraging participants to minimise risks to their
health and wellbeing. As part of our 'Positive Outcomes Program' (POP),
COTA offers one on one information sessions to individuals.
Through discussion with a trained volunteer peer educator, POP participants
will increase their knowledge of the risks associated with smoking, harmful
alcohol consumption, physical inactivity, poor nutrition and excess weight.
Once participants understand the risks associated with these lifestyle
choices they will gain knowledge of support services and networks available
in the community to assist with change. With an emphasis on free/cheaper
options participants will feel empowered to act upon their newfound
knowledge.
POP Individual Sessions are available to all Canberrans over 50 years,
targeting those who may be socially isolated.
If you are aware of someone who may benefit from a session, or would like to
discuss the program, please contact the Community Education Team on (02)
