UnitingCare Disability is a community service of UnitingCare NSW.ACT, which
provides high quality assistance to enhance personal rights, freedom and
independence of people with a disability.
A unique opportunity has arisen to work in the Ross Walker Lodge program. We
are looking for someone who is motivated to make a difference!
The successful applicant will be offered a uniquely flexible position
involving living and working alongside five people with a disability who are
fairly independent hence requiring a low level of support
This is a two and a half month full time contract replacing a period of
extended leave by the permanent staff. It commences from September 30
2013 until December 10, 2013.
What applicants require
* Relevant tertiary qualifications in social sciences and/or 3 years
relevant work experience.
* Sound knowledge of the issues involved in working with people with
a disability and their families including diverse cultural and linguistic
backgrounds.
* Experience in developing and implementing Person Centred Plans,
and coordinating support to client and families through accepting and
supporting the value and contribution of all people.
* Interpersonal skills and characteristics including warmth,
flexibility and the ability to think and act appropriately in complex
situations, focussing on solutions rather than problems.
* Ability to cook at dinner time for themselves and the residents
* Effective communication skills and a natural flair for networking.
* Ability and willingness to work flexible hours including living on
the premises.
* Ability to work under limited supervision whilst operating as part
of a team.
* Experience in managing time, planning and organising own work
schedule, and demonstrating initiative when working without direct
supervision.
* Excellent written skills, including a proven capability to write
reports and keep accurate records. Proficient in the use of Microsoft
Office.
* Current drivers licence and willingness to travel for work related
use if required, and willingness to transport clients.
* First aid certificate or a willingness to obtain within first
three months of employment.
