Respite Coordinators
Carers ACT is the leading organisation that is dedicated to improving the
quality of life for Carers in the ACT. We have represented the interests of
over 43,000 Carers and their families since 1992. We are the only family
Carer centered, service provider in the ACT that provides information,
advice and services. Every aspect of our work is underpinned by how we can
improve carers' lives by ensuring they have information to give them choice
and provide opportunities to empower them to have their voices heard by
policy and opinion makers.
About the Opportunities
Carers ACT has an exciting new opportunity for 2 Respite Coordinators to
join their teams in the Holt location.
These are pivotal roles that will see you providing high quality
professional support to carers across the Respite areas.
More specifically, your responsibilities will include (but are not limited
to):
* Providing intake and assessment of individual carer needs for
respite care, provision of information on the full range of respite care and
other services available in the area, including coordinating outreach and
engagement activities.
* Implementing appropriate short term and emergency respite services
for carers;
* Liaising and negotiating with service providers to coordinate cost
effective respite care services to meet carer needs;
* Maintaining accurate client and service provider records; and
* Working both individually and collaboratively to maintain a high
quality professional service for all carers accessing the program.
To succeed in the Respite Coordinator role it is required that you have
qualifications in health, aged care or the disability fields. Knowledge of
Southern Highlands regional services and networks is highly desirable.
All roles require a demonstrated understanding of privacy legislation and
the ability to work within those parameters, as a demonstrated
understanding, as well as an empathetic and flexible approach to managing
the sensitivities of carer issues.
Working to develop strong relationships you will need to be a compassionate
and understanding individual, with outstanding communication and
interpersonal skills, and the ability to work in challenging situations.
You'll have the ability to build and nurture relationships and networks with
service providers and target groups within the ACT community.
Importantly, you will be confident using Word, spreadsheets and calendar
management software, and will possess highly developed client documentation,
record keeping and file management skills. A current driver's licence is
also mandatory.

salary circa $44,850 - $52,900 (pro rata) + super and generous salary
