TAC supporting inaugural Centenary children event:
Hi, my name is Elena Kirschbaum, I am the creative producer of Kids,
Creatures & 100 Harlequins.
Kids, Creatures and 100 Harlequins is a two day festival on the 25th and
26th October for children in the ACT, as a part of the Centenary of Canberra
celebrations. On Friday 25th October the target demographic will be 0-8 year
olds, with a focus on before school age children and their parents, as well
as early primary school children. On the Saturday 26th October the festival
will be aimed towards 0-12 year olds and their families. The event will take
place in Glebe Park in Canberra, on the far side of the city.
We are running a special community engagement project as a part of the
festival called The Parade of 100 Harlequins, and we are inviting a few
select organisations to be a part of it! We are looking for all different
organisations to be a part of it, and people of all ages, from all walks of
life.
The Parade is community engagement project featuring over 100 harlequins
parading throughout the CBD from 10am - 10.45am, like the Canberra parades
of old but with a twist, and attempting to set a world record in the
process!
Participating organisations will join in with a workshop in the lead up to
the event, with a visual artist who will help them make a costume element
for the parade, and a physical theatre performer who will create movements
and elements that will be incorporated into the parade. These workshops will
be fun, with no previous experience or skills needed!
And all participants will hopefully be a part of a world record! That makes
everyone a world record holder!
We will be running several workshops around Canberra, and if mobility is an
issue then we can come to you! The workshops will take place in early
October, and the parade itself will be on Saturday 26th October.
