The aim is to explore what the experience of choice and control was like, and whether the individuals interviewed felt there was opportunity for greater social inclusion.
With the interviews, I will then create an ACTCOSS article or identify the advocacy opportunity concerning particular components of their experience. The purpose of doing this work is so ACTCOSS can support the disability sector by drawing attention to issues that are persistent and ongoing. I am hoping to identify things which the community can do something about, even if it is to have greater awareness of the experiences of people with disabilities and how they might be able to be more socially inclusive in local communities.
I have media consent forms, and these include the option for people
interviewed to use a false name for de-identification purposes. There
are also choices available on which ACTCOSS publications are used to
tell their story, and interviewees can specify these on the form. They
will also be contacted prior to any story being published to re-confirm
their consent.
