The ACT Mental Health Consumer Network is currently offering Advocacy and Representation Training opportunities for 2014. Please see the link below for the 2014 training calendar.
The ART program is delivered a few times throughout the year. ART is free to attend, and all participants graduate with a certificate of participation. The ART program includes a Self-Advocacy course (five sessions) and a Consumer Representation course (five sessions). Each course is also offered intensively over two days, please the calendar for more details.
The Self Advocacy Course covers:
1. Introduction
2. The Practice of Self Esteem & Self Confidence 3. The Practice of Self Expression 4. The Practice of Self Reliance and Self Determination 5. Self-Development
The Consumer Representation Course covers:
1. Introduction to the Consumer Movement & Consumer Representation 2. Social Justice, Legislation & introduction to Committee structures 3. Committee skills 1 4. Committee skills 2 5. Committee skills 3 and Experiential Committee
Registrations are now open for the Self Advocacy and Consumer Representation Courses starting on Thursday 6 February to Friday 7 March.
For those interested in only Self Advocacy, training will take place every Thursday and Friday from 6 February to 20 February 2014 from 11am - 1pm. For those interested in consumer representation only, training will take place every Thursday and Friday from 21 February to 7 March 2014. Training will take place from 11am - 1pm on Thursdays and Fridays only from Thursday 6 February to Friday 7 March.
All training will take place at the Griffin Centre, 20 Genge Street, Canberra City – the room number will be provided to registered participants.
