Self advocacy for Carers Skills Workshop
These sessions aim to enhance carers confidence, skills and capacity in representing family needs
Session 1: Introduction to and achieving effective advocacy.
Session 2: Challenges and barriers to effective advocacy and how to overcome them.

Introduction to Mindfulness – Southside and Northside Session
This introductory session will give carers the opportunity to understand why so many people with busy, stressful lives have found more peace and enjoyment in life through mindfulness. Come along, try some simple exercises, ask questions and find out how mindfulness can assist you in all aspects of your life.

Private Viewing
Garden of the East, photography in Indonesia 1850s – 1940s
Private viewing for Carers at the National Gallery of Australia. The exhibition includes the work of Walter Woodbury; who left his home in Manchester to join the Australian Gold Rush, but upon finding he was too late to strike luck in the goldfields, brought a camera with the last of his money and created history with his pictures. The work of Woodbury and his associates feature predominately in the Garden of the East exhibition and display some of the earliest use of panoramic photography and stunning sights of early Indonesia.

Dementia Education and Training Session
This interactive session will be presented by Karen Cmeil, Education Manager at Alzheimer's Australia, ACT. These sessions do not duplicate Alzheimer’s Australia’s education and training content; they are carer specific and will build on your existing knowledge and skills. The Dementia Education Session is open to all carers and is suitable for all levels of knowledge. A light lunch will be provided.

Expressions of interest for over 65’s bowls group
Carers ACT were hoping to begin a bowls group for carers over 65years who would like the chance to socialise with other carers while having a friendly game of lawn bowls. If this may interest you, please let me know via email or phone, as without adequate interest the group will not go ahead. We are open to having a Northside and Southside group and would very much like your input into when and where carers would like these games to happen.
Carers Gathering – Applications Close Feb 14th
Don’t forget that applications for the Carers Gathering close February 14th!
The Carers Gathering gives carers a chance to take some time out and enjoy 2 nights away at the relaxing Murramarang Beachfront Resort. The gathering will take place between March 25th – 27th and accommodation, travel and meals are provided by Carers ACT.
