Canberra & Region Heritage Festival - Wheelchair NatureWalks

Canberra & Region Heritage Festival - Trailrider Excursions
Put yourself in this picture.....
If, like me, you have very few chances to go bushwalking -
the Trailrider wheelchair might be an answer for you.
You can be a Trail Blazer too!
It is time that our beautiful ACT National Parks are opened up for more
use for disability tourism.
On Easter Saturday, 19th April, the National Parks Association and staff
at Namadgi National Park, are conducting free nature wheelchair-walks on
the 1-km Namadgi Woodlands Trail.
The Trailrider buggy (see photo) and a manual 3-wheeler all terrain
wheelchair will be available. The Trail is packed gravel with moderate
inclines so assistance is needed. Motorised wheelchairs are not
suitable. Volunteer bushwalkers with local knowledge will introduce you
to the trees, grasses and wildlife. You do need to be able to transfer
independently (or with assistance from friends/family). Bring your
family and friends to help with the pushing and for a picnic afterwards.
It is essential to book in. Contact Namadgi Visitor's Centre on 6207
2900.
An opportunity for a great outdoor experience! Join me at Namadgi on
April 19th.
- Sue Salthouse, WWDACT
