NDIS Update

Autism Asperger ACT

NDIS UPDATE

Members should note that AAACT just been provided with the following advice from the ACT NDIS Taskforce regarding the high level phasing of clients in to the NDIS on an Ages and Stages basis:

"Although we cannot announce the detailed monthly phasing in of participants and providers, we do need to have discussions with our providers and our community. These conversations are essential if we are to begin cashing out contracts from 1 July, and if the National Disability Insurance Agency is to be able to prepare appointment schedules and training for staff appropriate to the phased participant intake for 1 July.

I am therefore happy to advise you the initial thinking is that the following approach will be used to develop detailed phasing-in arrangements:

1.     Adults will phase in from oldest to youngest over the Trial.

2.     Children below school age will phase in over the first 6 months, including all babies who are born after 1 July.

3.     School leavers will phase in at the end of the school year 2014 in time to have their packages ready when they leave school.

4.     School age Children will be completely phased in during the school year 2015. (This spans both financial years of the Trial.)

5.     Group homes need special treatment so that the whole household can phase in together. Households will be phased in from youngest to oldest over the Trial.

Government group homes will still have a choice of provider like NGO group homes, but the option of government services to continue until 30 June 2017"
