SHIP Training

This is relevant for all specialist homelessness services that use the
Specialist Homelessness Information Platform (SHIP).

As you would be aware, each financial year, the Australian Institute of
Health and Welfare (AIHW) provides each state with four (4) SHIP training
days at no cost; SHHS facilitates these training days. The ACT has now
utilised its allotted four (4) SHIP training days for 2013/14, and as such,
the next free training will not be scheduled until July 2014.

However, if you feel your organisation or all organisations would benefit
from additional SHIP training, AIHW does the have capacity to deliver extra
training at the expense of individual organisations. In Canberra, we are
fortunate that the AIHW trainers reside here, as such organisations would
only be liable for the training cost, not the cost of flights or
accommodation. If any services would like to request a paid training
session, Social Housing and Homelessness Services (SHHS) can facilitate this
as soon as possible. The AIHW trainer has indicated that one day SHIP
training (introductory or advanced) will cost $817 and two days training
(introductory and advanced) will cost $1,634. This equates to approximately
$80 per person per session, if all 10 available spots are taken.

Please contact myself on the details below to indicate your interest in
extra training, how many people from your organisation would like to attend
and if you would prefer introductory training, advanced training or both. If
there is enough interest, we will be able to proceed with booking SHIP
training with AIHW.
