STRATEGIES FOR MANAGING PAIN – A DAYTIME SESSION FOR FAMILY CARERS*
CIT SKILLS FOR CARERS presents a session to equip carers' and their families and help them learn more about pain and pain management.
Topics covered include:
* what is pain, how to talk to health professionals about pain, how to describe pain, how to measure it
* Information about pain medication and medical terms
* tips for navigating the health care system
* pain management techniques other than medication
Please come with questions, and your invaluable experiences.
Facilitator: Tricia O'Connor is a registered nurse with many years of varied experience in nursing both in Australia and overseas. Tricia currently divides her time between her main areas of interest: palliative care, student supervision, and teaching at the CIT.
