Human rights and people with disabilities

*   Understand human rights for people with disabilities and how they may be applied every day
*   Gain confidence to support people with disabilities making their own decisions
*   Promote human rights to support self-advocacy

Come along to a Supporting Self-advocacy and Human Rights workshop


You will learn:
·      Human rights for people with disabilities, including guiding documents, conventions and law
·      Advocacy, self-advocacy and supported decision making
·      Balancing duty of care, dignity of risk and self-advocacy
·      Skills and strategies to assist people to develop their self-advocacy skills
·      Local resources & information


Who: Anyone interested in learning to support people with disabilities to speak up for themselves within a human rights framework: community and support workers, family members, teachers, coaches, neighbours - you.
