You are invited to join a social media forum this Saturday 9 May 2015 from 10am-2pm on the proposed ACT Disability Inclusion Statement.
The ACT Government is developing an ACT Disability Inclusion Statement 2015 – 2017 that builds upon the achievements delivered under Future Directions: Towards Challenge 2014 and continues the ACT Government's record on delivering the National Disability Strategy 2010-2020.
A fresh approach is proposed to improve outcomes for people with disability.
The Statement's proposed vision is to advance an inclusive Canberra community that enables people with disability to participate and reach their full potential as equal citizens.
This vision will be made a reality through a proposed movement of people with and without disability, community, industry, education and government sectors coming together to change community attitudes through practical actions.
Evidence-based, community designed social campaigns are proposed to improve outcomes for people with disability in the areas of jobs and personal development; housing; justice; welcoming and accessible communities; and health.
The campaigns will be year long intensive communication activities, events, media and community education that focus on generating real action from community members, community groups and Canberra's industry, community, education and government sectors.
More information, including a discussion paper and a video, is available at Time to Talk. Consultations on the statement close on 15 May 2015.
