The Control & Choice Expo is on Thursday 21 May, it's one of the biggest disability events in Canberra and is particularly targeted at people who are moving to the NDIS or reconsidering their disability supports - although anyone with disability will find it full of interesting things.
Now it's time for you to think about how you are supporting your consumers to get to the Expo. Many people with disabilities rely on community service providers to get them to places, so plan ahead now to get your consumers to the Expo on the day. If you are responsible for them, take it an extra step and work out how they will get to the Expo.
Last year several organisations worked hard to get their consumers to the Control & Choice Expo using shuttle buses, Action Bus support, or carpooling. Other organisations were caught out not planning ahead and their consumers missed out, so start planning now!
The Control & Choice Expo is an accessible event and has been planned to provide an inclusive experience for ALL people with disabilities. There is plenty of parking, accessible toilets, spacious layout, a quiet space and much more to ensure everyone has a good experience.
There is more info about the Expo here https://www.eventbrite.com.au/e/control-choice-expo-be-ndis-ready-registration-16780011466?ref=ecal you don't have to book you can just turn up on the day.
You can also download the Expo poster from the Expo website http://www.advocacyforinclusion.org/images/Control_Choice_Expo_/a4_poster_for_visitors_march15.pdf
Don't leave it to someone else; if you are supporting someone on 21 May then take responsibility for getting them to the Expo.
See you there!
