How do we stop people in behavioural crisis from hurting property, people or themselves? This seminar will describe in a user friendly way, methods for supporting people in behavioural crisis. This seminar is intended for direct support staff who work face to face with persons with intellectual disability , it may also be of interest to managers, behaviour support staff, parents and others. This seminar will describe in a user friendly way, methods to rapidly bring a serious behavioural incident under control. These methods will be illustrated by a range of case examples. Methods include: Antecedent control - controlling escalating stimulus, the presence of people, how to and not to make a request, good timing of activities, this place needs rearranging, and more. About Your Course Leader Geoff Potter, B.A, M.Psych,Ph.D (matric) MACA;AAPA, AABA is a behavioural consultant and lecturer on supporting persons with challenging behaviour. Geoff has presented his work at a number of international conferences including the World Congress on Cognitive and Behavioural Therapies. He has worked in senior public and private disability positions and currently has his own private practice.
