ACT DSA Workshops

The ACT Down Syndrome Association is holding 2 days of workshops on
Wednesday, the 25th July and Thursday, the 26th July between 8:30 am and
4:30 pm at Merici College, 10 Wise St Braddon.

Wednesday the 25th July is devoted to Playing to their Strengths which
focuses on the potential impact of Down syndrome on students. This
workshop is presented by Judy Davidson, a teacher and the Parent Support
Manager of DSA NSW.

Thursday the 26th July covers 2 workshops - Math Ideas - Counting to
Calculus and Starting Reading: Sight Words to Shakespeare. Math Ideas is
presented by Dr Rhonda Faragher, senior lecturer in mathematics
education at the Australian Catholic University and the parent of a
teenager with Down syndrome. Starting Reading is presented by Dr Kathy
Cologon, lecturer in early intervention and transition at Macquarie
university. Kathy has worked extensively with children with Down
syndrome.

Workshops are aimed at parents/carers, principals, teachers and teacher
assistants supporting children and adults with Down syndrome.

Costs are:
School personnel
Two days -$100.00 per individual
$160.00 per school (max. 3 participants)

One day - $60 per individual
Parents/family and friends

Two days - $70.00 (non-members)
$35.00 (ACTDSA members)

One day - $40.00 (non-members)
$20.00 (ACTDSA members)

Morning tea and lunch are provided.
