Public transport is a crucial part of the lives of people with
disabilities, facilitating participation in employment, education,
health care, recreational services and social activities. The Office of
Regulatory Services has commenced the review and update of the 2009 -
2012 Accessible Public Transport Action Plan as part of the ongoing
commitment to striving toward an effective and reliable accessible
public transport system for all members of the ACT Community.

The 2009 - 2012 Action Plan was formulated in consultation with
Government agencies, industry stakeholders, and representatives from the
disabled community. The Action Plan acts as a guide to assist public
transport providers in meeting the Commonwealth Government's Disability
Service Standards for Accessible Public Transport

The 2012 review will examine to what extent barriers to accessing
transport services for people with disabilities have been removed, and
assist to identify current issues and priorities. The five areas of
focus under the review are access to and within public vehicles, access
to infrastructure, communication, attitudes and financial systems.

To assist in updating the Action Plan, people with disabilities, and
other interested members of the public are invited to provide feedback
about their experiences accessing Canberra's public transport system and
infrastructure.

There are a number of ways in which the customer survey can be
completed:

* request an accessible copy by sending an email to

returning the survey to the same email address
* obtain a printed, reply paid copy of the survey from Canberra
Connect and MyWay shopfronts and most community centres from Wedensday
3rd October.
* request a copy to be mailed to you by calling Public Transport
Regulation on 6205 4585
* call Public Transport Regulation on 6205 4585 for assistance
in completing the survey by telephone.

If you wish to provide verbal feedback about using Canberra's public
transport system, please call 6205 4585.

The Accessible Public Transport Customer Survey will be available from
Monday 1st October 2012.

Assistance is available for organisations who would like to distribute
the customer survey directly to their members.
