What is

A circle of support involves a group of people coming together to help
promote, support and put into action the vision and goals of a person with a disability.
Starting a circle of support involves the intentional building of relationships
around a person who might be vulnerable because of disability. They are based
on an understanding of the importance of relationships in our life and our need
to belong in the community.

a vision for the focus person

·
Using the vision to clarify the
purpose and goals of the circle

maintain the circle

·
The things that can go wrong and
how you can manage them.

Post-workshop
Follow-up

Following the workshop, Imagine More and Community Connections will
be running a series of community conversations based on specific aspects of a Circles
of Support that will expand on the foundational knowledge gained at the
workshop. Mentoring will also be available for families who want to establish
their own circles of support. Linking people with a paid facilitator to get
started and maintain their circle will be supported if needed.

Who should
come?

Families who are wanting to build on what they have already
learnt about circles of support as well as those who are new to the concept.
People who are interested in taking on the role of facilitating a circle of
support are also welcome.
