Hands On Studio, housed within the M16 studio and gallery complex, is a
creative and inclusive art space, which provides people with disabilities
access to art education. The Studio's staff take into consideration the
varying abilities and complex needs of their students, and design and
deliver personalised art education programs.
The Studio offers seven classes a week, which include painting, drawing,
printmaking, mixed media and clay.
The students work in collaboration with art tutors from various disciplines
to make art works across a number of mediums. Students are encouraged to
view their art practice in a professional manner and regularly contribute
art work to high quality exhibitions and displays in various venues around
Canberra.
One of the key objectives of Hands On Studio is to provide an opportunity
for students to become professional practicing artists in their own right.
The Studio assists students to achieve their artistic potential in the wider
art community by seeking recognition for their art work and their practice
as artists.
Hands On Studio is a welcoming and creative environment, where students can
extend their art practice while socialising and developing skills with
like-minded individuals.
Hands On Studio currently has positions available for both Wednesday morning
and afternoon classes.
