Invitation to join the Priorities Support Program/Community Services Expo - 15 October 2013

Invitation to join the Priorities Support Program/Community Services Expo -
15 October 2013

The ACT Education and Training Directorate (the Directorate) provides
funding under the Priorities Support Program (PSP) initiative to Registered
Training Organisations (RTOs) to provide accredited training programs that
have innovative approaches that maximise employment, career development or
further training success for participants from disadvantaged groups.
Participants from these groups have often experienced barriers to access and
success in training programs which may include cultural difference, physical
or mental disability, length of time since previous education and training,
lack of success in previous education, low levels of literacy and/or
numeracy and confidence to undertake training.
PSP 2014 will for the first time, include the availability of funding for
wrap-around services that will significantly assist participants to remain
engaged in the training process and to successfully progress to employment,
further training or career development. These services may be in the form
of:
. Life skills training
. Travel or food expenses for the participants to attend training
. Mentoring
. Career advice
. Specialist support services

This creates a great opportunity for collaboration between the vocational
education and training (VET) and community sectors. The Directorate is
hosting a "Community Services Expo" and would like to invite community
organisations to provide a 5 minute introduction about their services to
local RTOs who are interested in providing wrap around services as part of
their PSP 2014 application.
Following the presentations will be a networking opportunity for interested
RTOs to speak directly with the community organisations they would like to
collaborate with. Community organisations will also have an opportunity to
set up a table to display information about their services.
