Introduction to Disability & Sexuality
This 3-day course is designed to allow participants to support and
engage people with disabilities in their daily lives and provides
positive strategies for appropriate behaviours.
The course will equip participants with skills in communicating
comfortably and effectively to people with a disability; and assist
participants in the preparation & provision of appropriate information
about sexual and reproductive health to address the needs of clients.
Topics covered include -
* Sexual development
* Sexually Transmissible Infections (STIs)
* Contraception
* Pregnancy & birth
* Safer sex.
* Legal ethical issues that may arise when supporting people
with a disability around sexuality & sexual health issues
* Sexuality and Relationships Education for people with a
disability
Dates: 2, 3 and 4 April 2014
Cost: $295 ($195 for concessions and for more than one enrolment from
the same workplace).
Introduction to Sexuality and Health
SHFPACT's core unit in sexuality, Introduction to Sexuality and Health,
is designed for teachers, youth workers, community workers, social
workers and those interested in gaining knowledge and skills in the area
of sexuality and reproductive health. For this course held in 2014 we
are going to have a focus on youth health.
During this 3-day course, participants will develop skills in:
- Basic knowledge and understanding of:
o Anatomy and physiology of human sexuality
o Sexual function and dysfunction
o Pregnancy, birth and contraception
o Reproductive and sub-fertility issues
o STIs, HIV and safer sex
o Sexuality events in the lifecycle
- Knowledge or community resources and organisations
- Ability to communication about sexuality effectively and
comfortably
- Preparing and providing appropriate information about sexual
and reproductive health to address the needs of individuals and groups
of clients in a non-judgemental manner
- Responding to confidently to questions about sexuality
- Familiarity with current resources in the area of sexuality
Dates: 11, 12 and 13 June 2014.

Educating in Sexuality and Health
This 2 day short course is designed for professionals involved in the
designing and provision of sexuality education programs. Participants
will develop skills including in the design & facilitation of sexuality
education programs; evaluating the effectiveness of program delivery and
revising & adapting programs to meet the needs of a diverse group of
learners.
At the end of the course participants will have the opportunity to
design, implement and present a sexual health education program for
assessment.
Topics covered include -
* Good practice in Sexuality & Reproductive Health Education
* Characteristics of a good sexuality educator
* Debunking myths around sexuality education
* Conducting a needs assessment
* Writing and structuring session plans
* Addressing different learning styles
* Different types of evaluation strategies, processes and
methodologies.
* Identifying resources and tools for effective sexuality education.
Dates: 14, 15 and 16 October 2014
