Hi all

 

If any of you have folks that struggle with their communication, I have set up a social group called Chatterbox where we meet to learn and share ideas about alternative communication methods. 

 

The next meeting will be July 24, 2014 @ 7:00 pm – 9:00 pm at my house in Melba. I will talk about the PODD workshop I went to and show you how to use PODD.

 

I will have a speech therapist - Gail Bennell -  attending via skype to answer any questions you may have about alternative communication. You can bring along anything that you use with your family member to communicate too.

 

Another thing you might like to do is bring along your family member or any circle of support members.  The hard thing about learning to use alternative communication methods is that they need to be used in all settings with all people talking about all different kinds of things.  That means you have to teach a lot of other people how to do it.  This is a good opportunity to do that.

 

So if you would like to bring any other folks along that would like to learn how to use your person’s method of communication, they would be more than welcome.

 

If you let me know if you are coming that would be great and if you could bring along a small plate of food to share that would be great too.
