Presents - Darcy Elks - Darcy
Darcy Elks is an educator, consultant, human service evaluator, and advocate on behalf of people who are societally devalued. Darcy has 3 children, 2 of whom have recently graduated from High School and are moving in to their young adult lives. Darcy's focus over the past 5 years has been to assist her children and other young people to have full meaningful inclusive adult lives. Her desire is to see young adults leave school and develop exciting lives that are grounded in personal gifts, talents, and interests. She has traveled extensively, consulted and taught in many different countries. Darcy has worked with many different groups of people, including persons who have themselves been marginalized by society, family members, professionals from different disciplines and different human service field, members of faith communities, citizen advocates, etc.
The focus of Darcy's work is to encourage attitudes and structures that promote social value and inclusion for people who have disabilities and others who have been devalued and excluded. Darcy's passion is to help create inclusive communities: communities where we are all welcome and where we can each use our gifts for the good of one another. Over the years, Darcy has developed and taught workshops that focus on devaluation, its consequences, and what can be done to effectively deal with these dynamics.
