Family Leadership Friday August 15, 2014 10am – 1pm Hartley Lifecare 6 Hodgson Place Pearce ACT
This workshop is led by two parents with extensive experience in family leadership and developing good quality lives for their family member with a disability. The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) will allow people with disability and their families to have choice and control over services and supports. Being in charge can be overwhelming. Where do you start? How do you make sure they deliver what you need? This workshop aims to help people with disability and their families answer these questions and more.

Thomas Banks is professional speaker who educates communities about communicating with people who have disabilities. He has cerebral palsy and uses alternative communication. Be inspired by his story and learn to be a good communication partner.
Sheree Henley is a parent of a teenager learning to communicate with PODD. She is also the founder of Chatterbox, a social group for families and others interested in learning about alternative communication. She will share her journey with you and give you tips on how to keep going and get other communication partners involved – teachers, friends, neighbours, after school care etc.
