FIRST AID FOR PARENTS - A CIT CARERSKILLS SESSION FOR FAMILY CARERS*
First Aid saves lives. Basic first aid is simple to learn, easy to apply and is an invaluable tool to have as a family carer with children.
CIT Skills for Carers and St John Ambulance are partnering to provide this session for family carers, teaching them what to do if their child is injured, and focussing on common childhood injuries. Topics include:
* Dealing with an emergency
* Choking
* Bumps to the head
* Cuts and bleeding
* Burns
* Swelling and bruises
Most of the first aid techniques taught can be used to help the whole family. We will also talk about preventing accidents from happening and teaching your children what they can do to help treat themselves.
Note: This is not an accredited first aid course and does not involve a formal assessment of skills.
Facilitator: Kym 'Twisty' Schmid is the Community Education Supervisor at St John Ambulance ACT
Date: Wednesday 8 April
Time: 10am-12 noon
Cost: Free
Venue: CIT Woden, Ainsworth St Phillip
To Register: 6207 3628 or CarerSkills@cit.edu.au<mailto:CarerSkills@cit.edu.au>
