Canberra Dance Theatre won the Chief Minister's Inclusion award in 2011!
Age appropriate, energetic and creative dance for children and
teenagers with special needs. These are fun and active classes that
provides a range of movement and dance activities. They involve
warm-up/fitness/co-ordination tasks, learning a variety of dances,
problem solving and improvisation, and a relaxing cool down. These
classes offers lots of opportunities for the students to work with each
other and/or their parent/carer.
CDTeens: aged 13 - 18 years

Health & Fitness programs with children and adults with autism
Louise Wills, the AAACT Health and Fitness Coordinator, has already got a number of programs lined up for Term 1, 2012. Louise has put together the preliminary details which are listed below. Please let us know if you or your child would be interested in attending any of the programs: TERM 1, 2012 SPORTS SNAPSHOT!
Hi everyone. Just want to let you know what programs are available for term 1 next year. Please note that these are all specially designed programs for children and adults on the spectrum .There are lots more in the pipeline so I will keep you posted. I would really appreciate it if you could express your interest in any programs to louisew@autismaspergeract.com.au as some rely on minimum numbers to make them viable.
• Saturdays 1.15-2.00pm: Jazz technique class for 4 -8 year olds. Dance Central in Philip. Cost: approx $110 for a 10-week term.
• Saturdays 2.00 – 2.45pm: Zumba for women. Dance Central in Phillip. Cost: $10 per session.
• Saturdays 3.00-3.30pm: Swimming for ASD kids. Youngs Swim School in Kambah. $170 for a 10-week term. Small group instruction.
• Mondays 4.00-5.00pm: Skills and fitness session for primary-aged kids. CIT Bruce. $10 per session. 6 week program
• Thursdays 7.00-8.00pm Yoga for ASD adults and carers. YMCA Chifley. $5 per session, 6 week program from 16th of February 2012
• Wednesdays 1.00-1.50pm: Individualised circuit training in the gymnasium for ASD adults with a mentor. YMCA Chifley. $5 per session.
I will send out a Program Overview in January with more detailed information about the structure and benefits of each program. Until then, Happy Holidays!!

DANCE CLASSES FOR STUDENTS WITH SPECIAL NEEDS
Canberra Dance Theatre is teaching a range of age appropriate dance classes for students with special needs. These are fun and active classes that provide a range of movement and dance activities. Classes involve warm-up/fitness/co-ordination tasks, creative dance activities and learning a variety of dances and dance styles. Tween Moves and CDTeens class for older students also involve problem solving and improvisation, with a relaxing cool down to finish. All the classes offer opportunities for the students to work with each other and in the case of Jumping Juniors, with their parent/carer.
SATURDAYS (during school terms)
CDTeens: aged 13 - 18 years, 9.00-10.00am, $10.
An energetic and dynamic class drawing on various dance styles.
Tween Moves: aged 8 - 12 years, 10.10 -10.50am, $10.
A fun and funky class with cool moves.
Jumping Juniors: aged 5 - 7 years and their parent/s or carer, 11.10 - 11.50am, $10

NB This class is recommencing at the beginning of term 2, 2011
