Know Before You Go
Know
Before You Go is a new resource developed by Nican packed with
information - presented in an easy to read, step-by-step way - which
helps providers and people with disability alike to increase skills,
confidence and discover their passions.
The project includes tools for people with disabilities and providers. For people with disabilities it includes support to:
· Become inspired
· Build confidence
· Stay fit & healthy
· Make friends
· Overcome fear
· Overcome the inner critic
· Develop assertiveness
· Using mind mapping as a tool
· Plan for the future or simply ask – what will I do today?
For providers the kit provides support to:
· Undertake a self-audit, with tips, tools, checklists and examples
· Develop an action plan including a shell action plan with project owners, timeframes, deliverables and commitments
· Develop a checklist for inclusive events covering issues ranging from accessible parking to inclusive communicationshttp://www.nican.com.au/node/15103

EVENING COURSE
The Women's Information and Referral Centre is to conduct a 6 week course
for women who want to develop a greater understanding of self esteem, how it
is influenced, and how it can be attracted into one's life.
The related concepts of effective communication and assertiveness will also
be explored and participants will be actively encouraged to develop skills
in these areas.
The course aims to assist women to become more assertive by increasing their
self-esteem and self-confidence, and to become more self-accepting and more
in control of their lives.
DATES: 22 Feb-28 March
TIME: 6.30-9pm
VENUE: Women's Information and Referral Centre
Ground Floor, London Court, 13 London Cct, Canberra City
COST: $80
$40 concession (Please discuss with Course Coordinator)
Women's Information and Referral Centre no longer receives cash payments.
Please read the information letter regarding payment processes.
Please do not pay any course fees until the course has been confirmed to run
by a WIRC staff member.
Bookings are essential
