LIVING A HEALTHY LIFE WITH LONG-TERM CONDITIONS - A COURSE FOR FAMILY
CARERS As a carer, do you have a chronic health condition? Or, are you
caring for someone who has any condition lasting six months or longer,
such as asthma, arthritis, cancer, obesity, diabetes or heart disease?
This evidence based course runs for 6 weeks and is being conducted for
CIT Skills for Carers by ACT Government Health Directorate in
partnership with Arthritis ACT and SHOUT Inc.
Topics covered include:
* Managing symptoms, including pain and fatigue
* Dealing with negative emotions
* Communicating with health providers
* Adopting a lifestyle that prevents complications
* Action planning and problem solving
Facilitator: Virginia Rasheed has been a Registered Nurse for 40 years
and most of her roles have been as a nurse educator dealing with a range
of chronic health conditions. She has a Masters in Nursing and her
current role is Clinical Nurse Consultant for Self-Management of Chronic
Conditions.
Dates: 6 sessions (Mondays) - 20, 27 February, 5, 19, 26 March, 2 April.
Note: no session on Canberra Day March 12
Time: 10.00am - 12.30pm
Cost: Free
Venue: CIT Southside Campus, Woden
