Counsellor (12 Month Contract)

Carers ACT is the leading organisation that is dedicated to improving the quality of life for Carers in the ACT. We have represented the interests of over 43,000 Carers and their families since 1992.

Our mission is to campaign with and for Carers to advocate for the systemic changes they need.  We help Carers connect to services and supports that meet their needs and the needs of the people for whom they care.

Reporting to the manager of Carer Support Services you will provide a high level of face to face individual and group counselling, as well as over the phone support from our Holt and Woden offices. You will be responsible for delivering accessible and current education, information and support, counselling and referral to Carers across the ACT.

To succeed in this role you will hold appropriate tertiary counselling qualifications and membership of an accredited professional body. You will have demonstrated counselling casework skills, as well as sound knowledge of Mental Health, community care and Carer services. You will also have a good understanding of carers' roles and needs. The successful applicant will hold a current drivers licence and Working with Vulnerable People Registration.

This is a fixed term 12 month contract position with the possibility of extension dependant on funding.
